Cajun Country is transformed into a winter wonderland during the holiday season as Acadiana presents festivals of light, parades, tours of homes and holiday events. Voted a Top 20 December Event by the Southeast Tourism Society, "A Cajun and Creole Christmas" is celebrated the entire month of December. Use our annual "A Cajun & Creole Christmas" brochure as a guide to attractions featuring holiday programming.
Daytime activities: Tour historic homes and attractions decorated for the holidays; attend Christmas parades in Lafayette and other towns throughout Acadiana; shop for authentic Louisiana products and handmade crafts at art galleries and gift shops; and celebrate the holidays at area Christmas festivals.
Nighttime activities: Enjoy lighting events including Noël Acadien au Village at Acadian Village, the "Safari of Lights" at Zoo of Acadiana, the Christmas Renaissance "Festival of Light" in Lafayette's Oil Center, Les Lumieres du Village d'Abbeville, and the St. Lucy Festival of Lights in St. Martinville; and attend Christmas concerts by the Acadiana's best bands, orchestras and choirs.
