UL Lafayette to Host Festival of the Arts - 03/10/2010

Lafayette, LA- The UL College of the Arts is pleased to announce the schedule for their fourth annual Festival of the Arts which will honor the late architect, A. Hays Town. The Festival will be held March 22-27, and will include many exciting exhibitions and performances by UL arts students as well as an architecture symposium that will feature presentations by renowned architects.

To gear up for the week of activities, there will be a Spark Festival of the Arts celebration of the works and genius of A. Hays Town on March 13 during Artwalk at the Jefferson Street Market, downtown Lafayette. During this event, photographed works and sketches of A. Hays will be displayed for sale in the Galerie Lafayette in the Jefferson Street Market.

During the week, festival attendees will be able to view a variety of student works from blacksmithing to printmaking to fashion design. There will also be performances by the School of Music and the Department of Performing Arts. The BeauSoleil Solar Home will also have a special dedication ceremony during the festival.
The College of the Arts is comprised of the Department of Visual Arts, School of Architecture & Design, the School of Music and the Department of Performing Arts. The festival aims to increase awareness and interest in these four departments and the unique works that they produce. The festival also serves as a fundraising event for the SPARK Annual Fund, which enhances the educational opportunities of the college.
