UL Lafayette to Present The Mystery of Edwin Drood - 03/10/2010
Lafayette, LA- The UL Lafayette Opera Theater and the UL Lafayette Symphony Orchestra will jointly present Rupert Holmes’ musical The Mystery of Edwin Drood as part of the Festival of the Arts sponsored by the College of the Arts. The show will run on March 25, 26 and 27 at 7:30PM and March 28 at 3PM in the Ducrest-Gilfry Auditorium in Angelle Hall. The show will be directed by Shawn Roy and conducted by Michael Blaney. Duncan Thistlethwaite is the set designer, with Ken Harrelson serving as Lighting Designer. Costumes are by Broadway Costumes, Inc.
The musical is based on Charles Dickens final and unfinished novel. It is a basic “Who done it?”. However, in the musical where Dickens died, the audience gets to vote on the final outcome of the evening, thus solving the mystery. This delightful twist of plot, combined with a beautiful orchestral score, makes for a wonderful entertaining evening in the theater.
Admission is $10 for the general public and free of charge for UL Lafayette students, faculty and staff. Call 482-6012 for more information.
