Mrs. Louisiana to lead Krewe of Carnivale en Rio Parade - 01/22/2010

Lafayette, LA- The 2010 Krewe of Carnivale en Rio Brazilian Mardi Gras Parade will be led by Mrs. Jennifer Armond, Mrs. Louisiana America, 2009. Mrs. Louisiana, who hails from Bossier City, Louisiana, recently competed in the Mrs. America contest finishing in first place in the costume division wearing a Krewe of Rio costumes used in the 2006 Rio Mardi Gras Ball. Mrs. Armond was overall finalist.
The expected record crowds will be treated to 22 colorful and brightly lit floats carrying over 600 costumed riders, wearing feathers and other regalia. Nine marching bands will complement the spectacle of Lafayettes’ popular parade.
Mrs. Louisiana will satisfy the cries of “Throw me Something, Mister”, with spectacular beads, Rio Dolls, and a special “give away” bead for 25 lucky parade goers. The special give away bead qualifies the lucky one catching, for a chance to win a fabulous 4 day, 3 night get-away to the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada…compliments of the Krewe of Carnivale en Rio.
The parade will roll on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. from Pontiac Point and will follow the traditional Lafayette parade route.
Added to the celebration this year is the Krewes’ first “A Rio Celebracao” held on the day before the Parade on Friday, February 5, 2010 in downtown Lafayette at Parc Sans Souci. Festivities start at 5:30 p.m. with rocking bands, Brazilian costumes, and a brilliant fireworks display at 9:45 p.m. Food, Drinks, and “mucho fun” for your family and friends.
